The 15-Minute Win: Write 30 Days of Social Posts in One Sitting
The reason most small businesses are inconsistent on social media isn’t laziness. It’s the daily decision. What do I post today? What photo do I use? What’s the caption?
That decision, made fresh every morning, burns time you don’t have. Batch it instead.
The 15-minute approach
One session, one month of captions. You still choose the photos — but the writing is done.
Paste this into ChatGPT (free plan):
“I run a [TYPE OF BUSINESS] in [CITY], Australia. Write 30 short Instagram captions for my business. Mix it up: some should be tips, some behind-the-scenes, some promote a specific service, some be conversational. Keep each one under 150 characters. Don’t use hashtags — I’ll add those myself. Tone: [friendly/professional/casual — pick one].”
ChatGPT will give you 30 captions in one block. Copy them into a Google Doc or Notes app, one per row. When you’re ready to post, you pick one, grab a photo, add your hashtags, done.
Make it even easier
If you use Buffer or Metricool (both have free plans), you can schedule all 30 posts in one go. Photo + caption + date — set it and forget it for the month.
What to do with the captions ChatGPT gets wrong
Some will miss the tone or feel too generic. Delete those. You’ll still have 20-odd usable ones, which is more than enough. Ask for another batch next month — takes the same 15 minutes.
A real-world example
A café owner in Fitzroy tried this on a Sunday morning before the lunch rush. She had about 15 minutes. Her prompt:
“I run a café in Fitzroy, Melbourne. Write 30 short Instagram captions. Mix it up: some about our coffee, some about food specials, some conversational like talking to regulars, a couple behind-the-scenes. Keep each under 130 characters. No hashtags. Tone: warm and local, like a neighbourhood spot, not a chain.”
She got 30 captions back in about 20 seconds. A few from that batch:
- “Your Tuesday needs a long black and nowhere to be.”
- “The banana bread is back. We’re not sorry.”
- “Watching the rain from the front table with a flat white. This is what Fridays are for.”
She deleted five that sounded too polished, kept 25, and was done before the first table sat down. She now does this on the first Sunday of every month.
What works well (and what to watch for)
Any business with a visual side gets a lot from this: cafés, restaurants, tradies with before/after shots, pet groomers, florists. The volume problem gets solved in one session instead of grinding through a caption every morning.
The thing to watch: AI captions trend corporate. They come out grammatically clean and emotionally flat. “Visit us today for an exceptional dining experience” is the kind of line to delete on sight. Read through the batch with your own voice in mind and rewrite two or three from scratch so they actually sound like you.
The more specific your prompt, the fewer you’ll throw away. Suburb, vibe, what you sell, who your regulars are — the more context you give ChatGPT upfront, the better the output.
